The Ice Eater is designed to prevent ice from forming and to melt existing ice around boats, marinas, docks, and piers. The design of the Ice Eater's venturi shroud housing with outwardly flared ends and custom-designed propellers provides more upward thrust and draws warmer water from greater depths than conventional de-icers. This breaks the surface with a continuous current of warmer subsurface water. Unlike other de-icing units, the Ice Eater requires no additional hardware in order to obtain the desired de-icing pattern.
